Category filter with checkboxes for users

    Hello,

    Is there a way to have a widget on my sidebar that shows a category filter with checkboxes? Users must be able check the categories they want to see (in my case village names) and only articles that have this category are displayed. This should work on all pages including the frontpage.

    To be specific:
    I’ve defined a general set of categories like “house”, “road”, “lake” and each village also has a category.

    On the top menu I have:
    [house] [road] [lake]

    And in the sidebar i would like to have the following:
    [ ]Village1
    [X]Village2
    [X]Village3
    [ ]Village1

    In this particular example I would like the user to view all posts of categories “house”, “road” and “lake” that are also member of category Village2 and Village3.
