Category Post Question: Please Help!

First of all, I’ve searched and read the codex and found no help for this.

Please check out my test page I am working on here:

As you can see, I have two main posts, one on left and one on right. I want each post to be the latest for a certain category. One category left, one right.
Is there a way to do do this with a content tag?
I know how to do a category page template and such, but this is confusing me.
Any help?
I would be your bestest friend.
