• I have noted that recently my site has not been indexed by search engines, and tests show using crawler agents they are receiving 500 errors(please note access to the frontend and admin sites are fine), i deactivated the nextgen gallery and the problem disappears. i then did a little more research and found i was only using version 2.0.11 and does not show in the dashboard there are any updates available for it.

i am convcerned that doing this manualy will cause me to lose my galleries, is there anything i can do to get this to update automatically

  • @pickriff, I’m not sure the NGG upgrade will solve your issue – you have to investigate deeper to this, from a possible robots.txt or .htaccess files to the server misconfiguration… also for the fact that you don’t have automatic updates – but a manual upgrade doesn’t delete galleries.
You have to download the last version, unzip it and upload the files on the server via FTP in the Nextgen directory.
Anyway a backup is always good before any upgrade.
