Certificates with the same name

    We would like to use one certificate template for a whole category of courses (i.e. conference sessions). It’s set up to populate dynamically so that the person’s name, the date, and the title of the session (course) are all customized to that particular instance.
    HOWEVER, the problem comes in that all of those files have the same name (whatever the master certificate template was named, i.e. “conference session attendance”).

    We are using the Uncanny Owl plugin to display a list of a user’s earned certificates. It will only display one certificate (whichever one was earned first), but none of the others will display in the list. For example, I attended four conference sessions, which all use the same certificate template, but only one is listed in my list of certificates. If I individually go to each course, the certificate is correct, and each one shows up as expected.

    Is there any possible way to list all of the certificates, even if they have the same name? This would save us many hours of work as opposed to going through and cloning the certificate just to change the title. We have many sessions for this conference.

    Thanks for the suggestion! We have incorporated this change and it will be included in the next version of the Toolkit (which we should be uploading sometime this week.)

    Today’s update includes a change that will show all earned certificates, including those with the same name. Could you give the update a try and let us know if it’s showing certificates as expected now?

    I may be missing something here, but is it possible to display the date the certificate was earned next to the name also?

    No, there’s no way right now to display the date a certificate was earned. I don’t expect it’s something we will add to the Toolkit either.

    Hi there,

    The ability to show the same name certificates is great, as we use one generic certificate for all courses. However it would be really great to also show the course name next to the certificate as at the moment we end up with a list of links that say Online Certificate over and over. This seems like it would be a fairly easy thing to accomplish given that you already have to find the certificate ID for each course?

    We have considered it and may add it in future. For now the best practice on our sites is to name the certificate after the course and have a distinct certificate for each course. This way we avoid duplication when it doesn’t fit the context of the site.

    Hi,
    just want to second the notion to have the course name displayed instead of the certificate name. It would save a lot of work and keep the system cleaner (instead of having to create certs for each course…). Would be fantastic in a future release.
    Thanks for all the work on this plugin though 🙂 It’s great.
