• Hi! We have the CF7 form webpage at the link posted in the field below.

CF7 is working well. Now I must change its settings. After changing them, I click on the blue button Save at the CF7 dashboard and it will result in a 403 You don’t have permission to access /wp-admin/admin.php on this server. But the form is working well, sending emails correctly, etc. I just can’t save settings modifications.

Permissions for the folder wp-admin is set at 755. File permission for admin.php is set at 644. I can’t see why the 403 error. Any advice is welcome.

The image is too small and blurry. Can you provide plugins list in text form?

@takayukister thank you and sorry, I forgot to mention: please, click on the link to the screenshot here https://www.diigo.com/item/image/5pj5q/s4io and above the image, there is a button “Original Size”. Please, click it and the image will be big enough and readable.

OK. Try deactivating all the plugins excluding Contact Form 7 and All In One SEO Pack.

Hi. I disabled the plugins one by one. With each plugin disabling I tried to change Contact Form 7 settings. It will result in the 403 error. On a side note, it is also resulting in a 403 error on another website we have, that has a different theme and different set of plugins enabled. Seems like this could be a CF7 compatibility issue? Or CF7 needs a certain Apache module enabled? I can give you access to the website dashboard, if this helps to test, find and fix the plugin issue.

Issue: We did tests with the WordPress plugins. We are able to modify the Settings in all of them and save the new Settings without issue. However, when we modify any Contact Form 7 Setting and try to save it, it will result in a 403 error.

Causes: On investigating the reasons, we found out that Contact 7 somehow is triggering mod_security on saving. The mod_security error is “Host Header is a Numeric IP Address” and it results in the 403 error. This means somehow Contact Form 7 could be retrieving the server IP number instead of the domain name where the plugin is installed.

Perhaps this is Contact Form 7 bug, please, your advice on solving this issue is welcome.

    Looking forward to your reply

Why don’t you ask the developer to investigate the mod_security log and configuration? There are millions of websites with Contact Form 7 working without such issues. Checking the configuration of your own server is far more productive.
