Do you have the Access to Cpanel
yes, I still have access to all that. I’m in the process of changing passwords and the like now.
Ok! Do you have any kind of Problem then You can Share with me?
Ok, not sure what you’re asking, but I’m definetly not giving out my login info to some random person on a forum
Using PHPMYADMIN (from cpanel) and looking at the wp_users table, you can carefully rename a user. But, given you were hacked, get a fresh cup of coffee, take a deep breath and carefully follow this guide. When you’re done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of the recommended security measures.
If you’re unable to clean your site(s) successfully, there are reputable organizations that can clean your sites for you. Sucuri and Wordfence are a couple.
No Problem you didn’t have to share the Passwords.
If Your Problem Still exists then try Using MySql database. Find the User table and Change the Password in WordPress Hash Format.
@sterndata much appreciated! It literally looks like the only thing that was changed was the main user name, but yes I plan to do scrub down. I really do suspect something on my hosting end though, they’ve been having issues for the last couple months with things that shouldn’t be vulnerable being vulnerable, so yah. But I’ll figure it out. Thank you!
Also, how do I report another user? The other commenter here is clearly asking for account login info.
@sterndata am I correct in assuming that in order for someone to change the admin name in the first place they’d have to have access to the PHPMYADMIN?
Its really looking like the only thing that was done was change that user name.
No. PHPMYADMIN is just a nice way to access the database. If your site were hacked, it would have been done via code.
