Change “Author” post drop down menu? (Under edit post)

Is it possible to change the dropdown that allows you to change the post’s author to include people off the contributor list? Whenever I edit a post that someone else has written, it automatically changes it to me being the author. I found a work around, but it’s tedious. I would like to just change the dropdown menu to include subscribers, not just contributors and up. Thanks.
