Change template file – theme update save

Hi, this question is probably not only specific to this plugin but here I encountered the Problem:
Under this link is the documentation on how to change a template file. I did this and it works as it should. The problem is, that if the theme themselves (I use Avada) gets an update, the folders (plugins/events-manager/templates/…) are deleted and I need to create them again and re upload the changed php files, since they are not part of the theme. Is there a way around this or is this needed after every theme update?
