• I have inherited the control of the ancient website of our non for profit organisation that was built years ago with MS Frontpage. In order to lift it to a new level I would like to utilise wordpress which is supported by the hosting service.
My understanding so far is that the new site is built after uploading wordpress to the webserver. Is there a way to build the new site offline on the server (or locally) prior to taking the site down? I would like to avoid any downtime whilst I am getting used to wordpress. Ideally I would like to build the site first and the upload it.
    Please forgive my newbie question….

  • Yes you can develop the site on localhost, and upload it later on the server, whenever you want. Or you can develop it in sub directory on your server and later move it in root when it will be ready.
