    hello world !

I need to revam my WP website, which is going to take some time. Meanwhile, I’d like visitors to see the “old” website until I’m done… Can you pls advise on the easiest way to do it please ?

I have an old website http://www.old.com that I could use to deploy WordPress and create the whole thing from scratch, then change DNS to http://www.new.com ? Is this easy to perform please ?

    thanks

    Hey there,

You can build your website on localhost, or a sub-domain, so users will see the old website until your new one is ready to go live. Take a look at this tutorial if you wish to create your website locally first, and then upload it when it’s completed.

    hello,

is it the same to use a totally different domain instead of subdomain in terms of migrating ?

is it more difficult to move
    http://www.old.com to http://www.new.com

    than to move
    sub.new.com to http://www.new.com ?

    Thanks

No, both require same level of knowledge. Neither is more difficult than other, moving a WordPress installation from a sub-domain to main domain or from a completely different domain involves same process. Hope it helps.
