• Hi,
I am unable to setup the WooCommerce to display the pages in my language (Croatian).
I’ve changed the site language and I’ve clicked to download the translation. The administration pages are in Croatian but the displayed pages are always in English.

Note: I use WPGlobus plugin for translation but currently I do not care about translations so it’s fine that WooCommerce is always in one language. But I would like that language to be Croatian.

    Here is my status:

I’ve not used WPGlobus. Does it let you set a lang for admin separate to frontend?

You usually just need to go to settings > general and set the language there.

I have the same issue with my installation. System is danish and WC (WooCommerce) is english.

    Also looking for a solution

Danish is not 100% complete, contribute here https://translate.ww.wp.xz.cn/projects/wp-plugins/woocommerce

WPGlobus allows you to enter translations for you web pages. For each element (title/description) you can enter multiple languages. Translations are only for the posts/pages etc. and not for administrator pages.
WPGlobus does have a ‘default’ language (the language initially selected) but this does not affect the language of WooCommerce (I’ve tested it).

I did set the language in the site general settings. It is set to croatian.
In wp_content/language/plugins i do have the following Croatian (hr) files:
    woocommerce-hr.mo
    woocommerce-hr.po

In wp_content/plugins/woocommerce/i18n/languages I only have an english
    woocommerce.pot

Should I manually replace strings in woocommerce.pot? Is there a Croation version?

    @mike Jolley
This is correct but why does it only affect new installations of wordpress and woocommerce? I can update and have danish woocommerce on elderly systems I have running. I just wish that there is a hack available that allows us to FORCE a translation, because this is not good for my business, I can’t sell new webshops which is not translated 🙁

And on a seperate matter: https://translate.ww.wp.xz.cn/projects/wp-plugins/eu-cookie-law This I translated completly, but it is still showing as waiting, do you know when this will be “accepted” I translated like 30 days ago….

The translations are https://translate.ww.wp.xz.cn/projects/wp-plugins/woocommerce which can be downloaded and placed inside:

    wp-content/languages/woocommerce/

This is the new language dir.

I just wish that there is a hack available that allows us to FORCE a translation, because this is not good for my business, I can’t sell new webshops which is not translated 🙁

WP manages translations now, the old system wouldn’t have been compatible and would have overwritten our own lang files on updates.

So if I download translations and place it under wp-content/languages/woocommerce/ then I should have translated shop.
    I will try that.
Thank you for your help Mr. Jolley, you are a great supporter.

I’ve downloaded the translation files from the provided link. I put both po and mo files:
    wp-plugins-woocommerce-stable-hr.mo
    wp-plugins-woocommerce-stable-hr.po

    into the
    wp-content/languages/woocommerce/

    But it had no effect.

    Note:
This is effectively the same as described here:
    https://docs.woothemes.com/document/woocommerce-localization/#downloading-translations-from-translatewordpressorg-manually

    Name it: woocommerce-hr.mo
