I have it set that the ‘Username is Email’.

however, if you then change the email in either the backend admin, or the edit profile page, the username is still the original old email. so the username is no longer the email.

this is a problem because if someone no longer has access to the original email address and has forgotten their password they can’t get back into their account as the email is sent to their old username rather then the current email.

The admin can go in and change the email, but can’t change user name. even if an admin changes the email in their profile for them, the ‘forgot email’ still goes to their username (which is their old email).

I also have the ’email field name’ in setting set to ’email’.

    follow me? thoughts?

been thinking about this a little more so I could try to articulate it better.

without the ability for the member or the admin to change the ‘username’ it becomes a problem if the ‘username is email’ was set to YES but then their email changes. they then can’t change the username to the new email.

when setting it to ‘username is email’ to NO, then everything works. however, I need the usernames to be email.

    Hi Chris,

For the email as username issue, this is because usernames are not editable. The only way to change someone’s username (or email address, if you have Username is Email on) would be to do so straight in the database. If you’re concerned that many people would need to change their email address, and you would like for them to be able to do it themselves, your best bet is to not use the Username is Email option.
