Changing Link and Hover Color

I know this question was posted, but I have been unable to make it work.

Using My Custom CSS, I entered:

a.link {
color: #F62817;
}
a.hover {
color: #990012;
}

This didn’t have any affect on the color of links in the body or my pages or the hover color. They all still appear in the default color.

Can you help me out?
