• I have been trying for two days to access the administration section of my blog. (It’s my own fault, but that’s another story.) I have had a lot of input but still haven’t learned how to get in.

What I was wondering is if I can change the theme, since that’s what I messed up, from somewhere outside the administration section, maybe through the phpadmin or the hosting admin or the FTP?

I am keeping my fingers crossed that there is a way. I am a firm believer in the old saying ‘there’s more than one way to skin a rabbit.”

  • FTP is just a small program (Filezilla, WSFTP) that you use to transfers files to your server. You probably used it to upload WP to your server in the first place. When you do that, you will see the files on your computer and the files on your server and you can copy them back and forth. If you go to the /blog2 folder, that’s the root of your blog. The WP files on your computer will be in a folder called “WordPress” or something, the files directly in that folder are in the “root”, further you will see folders such as wp-admin, wp-includes, etc. Your computer and your server should ‘look the same’. For upgrade instructions see here.

And I’m off now, so I hope you will be able to figure out what the hell we are talking about here 🙂

Thanks for the lesson on the root.

It’s fixed. A friend from Digital Point at it up and going in about five minutes. He went into the FTP and into my blog and replaced some files. I had deleted the administration file somehow.

Thank you for your assistance. Have a great weekend! 🙂
