Hi, I’m in trouble…

I’m in the middle on changing web hosting companies. This is what I’ve done so far :

1-Downloaded my wp files from my current server (FTP)
2-Uploaded my files to my new server
3- Created a database on my new server
4- Changed the user, password, db name in my WP files

Put in my temp URL—–> Blank screen

Support at InMotion Hosting tells me it’s something wrong with WP.

Could someone please help me ?

Hi,
If you add the following line to your wp-config.php file it will display any errors instead of giving you a blank screen:

define(‘WP_DEBUG’, true);

Again, most of what you need is in the “Moving WordPress” article.

Among other things you need to:
– Download a copy of the DATABASE from your old site
– Upload the DATABASE to the new site.
– either:
A) Change your nameserver settings to direct your name to the new site then wait for this change to propogate through the DNS system
or
B) Put your name and server address into your HOSTS file on your PC, details on HOSTS file are here:
“http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosts_%28file%29”
