character encoding in site name

Hi,
When trying to set up the widget, I cannot properly prevent it from displaying my blog’s name from the result.
The name contains an apostrophe (Sonnez en cas d’absence) and it seems that esc_attr prevents the filter to match the name correctly.
What should I do (apart from changing my blog’s name)?
