Check server for upgrades plugin

I have written a couple of applications that I host on a wordpress site. The applications are C# and have nothing to do with wordpress. However, I was wondering if there was a WordPress plugin that would enable my applications to check a URL generated from the plugin that would allow the application to self-check to see if there are any updates to the app. Wow, that was a long sentence. Let me try again:
I would install this plugin on my wordpress site which does nothing until some application goes to a special url on my wordpress site. The plugin would use information passed in from the application to see if it is the latest version of that application. If not, the application would open the webpage where my application is hosted.

I tried searching for such plugins, but could not come up with any. I have an idea that I will have to just code this up myself, but I was holding out hope that such a plugin already exists.
