Have you tried checking out the Customiser -> General -> Form Elements section? There should be multiple controls in there, including the one you’re looking for — checkboxes.

Thanks Eduard. It works, but it seems like its a Jetpack checkbox so those rules don’t apply. I will check with them.

Yes, indeed. As far as I can see jetpack forcefully overwrites the checkbox values with JS, which is a bit hard to counteract.
I would advise getting in touch with them for a solution, as they might have a filter to disable their styling.
