Hi Michael,
What’s your site’s URL? The tracking code of CAOS differs slightly from Google Analytics’ own.
Ah sorry Dan, I forgot that important piece of information π It’s:
https://reclaimdesign.org
Ah, that’s fast. π
I don’t see the tracking code either. Could you temporarily disable Autoptimize? That’ll make it easier for me to pinpoint the issue.
Hi Dan,
If it’s the minification of view source that’s problematic could I please offer a suggestion (rather than disabling autoptimize entirely?
If ?ao_noptimize=1 is appended to the url then it bypasses autoptimize.
https://reclaimdesign.org?ao_noptimize=1
Then it displays nice and tidy instead of an illegible lump of code.
If that’s not the issue you’re referring to then I will disable the plugin π
You’re completely right. I forgot about that feature.
So, with Autoptimize disabled CAOS’ snippet loads: https://imgur.com/a/OoMJRAL
So, this means that Autoptimize is aggregating the snippet, which is awesome. In other words, CAOS has added the tracking code, and Autoptimize is combining it with the rest of the JS-files to minimize requests.
Now, the collect call is still not being sent. Even with Autoptimize disabled. Which is really weird, since I see analytics.js being loaded. Are you using some sort of plugin which is blocking tracking cookies? Maybe a cookie notice plugin for which you haven’t entirely finished the configuration?
Hi Dan, thanks a lot for checking. I’m glad to hear that CAOS and autoptimize are both working as they should π
I have no idea what is happening with collect call. To my knowledge I am not using any cookie blocking plugins. I have Sucuri firewall installed – could that be the culprit? I haven’t seen any features in the dashboard though relating to cookies. Only the ability to whitelist IPs.
If it helps, I can send you over my WP login? Maybe something will jump out to you?
Michael.
Hi Dan, are there any logs I could send to help troubleshoot? I’m stabbing in the dark and not really sure how to go forward with the collect call situation.
I’m sorry, I completely missed your last reply.
It’s not allowed to exchange admin logins through this support forum, but yes, I think it’s a great idea to start snooping around in access logs and error logs.for anything related to CAOS or Google Analytics.
No worries Dan. Excuse my ignorance but I couldn’t find any logs here – /wp-content/cache/caos
Am I looking in the wrong place?
Hi Michael,
Are you using an Async JS plugin by any chance? This might be what is breaking CAOS.
Hello Daan, you are right I have started using Async JS, but I already uninstalled CAOS so I don’t think that was it.
Hi Michael,
Might you ever want to use CAOS again: v3.7.0 (released yesterday) contains some major updates in the JavaScript field, also increasing compatibility for Async JS plugins, etc. π
Hi Daan, thank you for the update. Enjoy your week ahead!
All the best,
Michael.
