    I am so confused.
    I am quite new to wordpress. I have been trying to CSS with some success but now I have been reading that I should have a Child Theme for ANY changes I make to my theme (Twenty Eleven).

    My question is: HOW DO I MAKE A CHILD THEME?
    I have spent most of my day today and yesterday trying to figure it out with no luck.
    If I purchased my domain through wordpress (the-apposite.com) what and how do I use and do to create a child theme?

    I am using a Mac with the latest OS X.

    Please please help, anything you can give me would be helpful right about now.

    I have read this site http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Child_Themes about ten times now but it only says “Create a directory in your themes directory to hold the child theme.” – well I have no idea how to even get to my themes directory.

    HELP!!

    Thank you in advance

    Your site is hosted on WordPress.COM – Child Themes are not relevant there. Please read this :

    For help with WordPress.COM sites, you need to use their forums:

    @wpyogi – thank you

    so does this mean that it is ok to change the CSS code in the ‘Customise’ section of the twenty eleven theme? and how far can I change things? (for example: can I make my blog only have ONE post per page and then have a next and previous button at the bottom of the page?

    Thank you again

    Yes, that’s the purpose of the custom CSS on .COM sites.

    But you really need to ask questions .COM forums – these forums here are only for self-hosted ww.wp.xz.cn sites (they don’t work the same way so we probably don’t have the right answers here).
