child theme question

    Hi,

    Please help me out here as I am a beginner of WP user.

    I created a child theme and it is working ok but I have a problem. I have a background template x.css (already modified) loaded in the child theme directory, but the program keep going back to the parent directory and using that x.css file instead. Can someone tell me if I need to add any codes to ask the file to read the child instead of the parent? if so, what should I add please?

    PS: what I notice is, if I make the changes in the parent x.css, the webpage is reflecting the changes. If I make the changes in the child x.css, the webpage did not change.

    How is x.css getting loaded in the parent and how’s it getting loaded in the child? And why do you have to have a style sheet called that in your child anyway? Can’t you do everything in your style.css file using the cascade and specificity?
