I have modified several of the template pages (single.php, header-bar.php, footer.php, style.css – to name just a few) by hand so they maintain a level of consistency with the rest of the website which is 100% AMP valid, but…

When the AMP plugin is updated, I have to replace the new template files with the old ones I modified previously. Is there no way to create some form of child-theme-plugin for the AMP plugin so that when the updates occur, my child-theme overwrites the template files?

Is there, perhaps, a better way to do this instead of the way I am doing it currently?

Also, the comments section does not work seamlessly. In order for a visitor to leave a comment, they get kicked out of the AMPed version of the post and are redirected to the non-AMP post. As such, I cannot then keep my promise to the client that their site is to be 100% AMP valid, even with the WordPress portion of their site.

Is there a way to call the comments and allow them to post from within the AMPed post version?

    Thanks in advance

Hmm. So I’ve modified the original templates beyond recognition but what is meant by ‘serve AMP responses’?

I guess I don’t need the AMP theme support in this instance but even still, not being able to get this to work means I can’t use this option later (unless I understand the differences better).

Hi, yes I’m copying de templates from the plugin to my theme and I want to modify them.
In my first attempt I tried to copy the templates in my_theme > amp > templates > template.php and it doesn’t work.
Copying the templates directly into my_them > amp > template.php it works perfectly in my case.

    Thank’s for the support
