Chrome is idling

Email before download is hanging in Chrome. I’ve tried all the solutions in this post to no avail.

Is there anything else we can possibly try? It’s fine in all other browsers.

I assume the download file is a PDF? If you have “hide/mask” checked in the EBD Settings then uncheck it. If it’s already unchecked then check it. Test and see if it’s fixed.
If it still doesn’t work then set it to ‘both’ in the EBD settings, check the “hide/mask” box, and update this item with a link to your page so I can try it.
I found your URL over on the other old item that you had updated earlier before opening this new item ( http://www.votigroup.com/wp-content/plugins/email-before-download/download.php?dl=d0ca1d5a5332a171036b1f529970b06f ).
I tried that URL and it worked for me. I used Chrome, filled in the form, hit submit, and it updated below the form with a success message and a link to the download file. I clicked the link to the download file and it downloaded a PDF, which I was able to open. Note that it downloads the file rather than displaying it the PDF viewer. You will probably have to live with that behavior since I suspect it hangs (or is incredibly slow to display) if it tries to display in the PDF viewer (I’m assuming that was the problem you were seeing).
You may need to clear your cache in Chrome & restart it and try again to see it download if it’s still trying to display the pdf inside chrome for you.
We tried unchecking/checking the hide/mask option, literally we went through steps that you suggested in the other post. We’ve been cleaning the cache on the browser and it’s still not functioning as intended. At least not on mac version of Chrome.
We did switch to both email/inline link yesterday so that at least Chrome users will get the email. But the inline link just idles after clicking download.
Ah, that’s different. If it hangs when you click the link then the problem is that you have WP_DEBUG turned on. You need to either turn it off or make it’s output go to a file.
However, since it works for me, I kind of doubt that’s the problem.
It’s difficult for me to figure out the issue since it works for me when I try your page.
Have you tried using another computer? Is it only Chrome? Try adding a new download (not a PDF) and change your shortcode to reflect the new download id and try that. (make the file be a .jpg or something like that).

Just realized I pasted in the wrong link. This is the link to your page:
http://www.votigroup.com/product/xr3d-50s/Ok, ignore all previous updates and other posts, here is what I want you to do:
Step 1:
On your mac, duplicate the download file and then rename it to give it a slightly different name. We want the same file (the same pdf) but I want the filename to be something you’ve never used before. It can similar to what it was, but needs to be different.Step 2:
Log in to your wordpress as admin and Add that file to Download Monitor. Make sure you Add the newly-named version of the file, not the old one. We want to get the newly named file uploaded and we want Download Monitor to get a new download id number for that file. Make a note of the download id of the new file you just uploaded.Step 3:
Modify your existing wordpress page and change the download_id in your shortcode to be the new download_id that was just created.Step 4:
In the EBD Settings, make sure Hide/Mask is not checked. Also, set it to ‘both’ rather than ‘inline’. And, check the thing to turn on attachments.Step 5:
Test the page by filling in the form, hitting submit, and then clicking the link to get the PDF (in other words, test the inline link that appears on the page, don’t test the email stuff … i had you turn on the email part just as a troubleshooting step, you will turn it off later).Step 6:
If it does not work right, do not change any settings. Just post back in here and say and describe exactly what happens and what you see when you test it. -
