Hi @vf26mart,
These errors are typical for a changed Stripe account. To resolve this:
– Reach out to Stripe and have them migrate any existing account information (subscriptions, ongoing deposits/payments, etc) to the new account.
– After confirming that, go to WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > Stripe and change out the Public/Secret Keys to the new account keys found at the Stripe API area.
More information on setup can be found in the Stripe documentation.
If you run into an issue with it after this, let us know what is going on!
Thank you for the help Mike. I did also get some help last night from Woocommerce directly but its good to have help from you too. I was just about to set up the migration with stripe. You say once that is done to change the Keys over in woocommerce, but i have already changed them over. Do you think that matters?
Also i found out that the new stripe account we are using wasn’t verified by stripe yet so we couldn’t take live payments anyway! Stripe has since that verified the account and i can now make live payments. But i do still have the following error so do you think i should do the migration too?
The public and/or secret keys for the Stripe gateway have been changed. This might cause errors for existing customers and saved payment methods
Thank you for your time and help, its much appreciated.
Hi @vf26mart,
Glad to hear that you are getting help from WooCommerce directly!
For the keys, usually after the change in keys is done it should start pushing items to the new account.
Also i found out that the new stripe account we are using wasn’t verified by stripe yet so we couldn’t take live payments anyway! Stripe has since that verified the account and i can now make live payments. But i do still have the following error so do you think i should do the migration too?
Definitely do the migration of the other items if you have Subscriptions or other active recurring payments on the previous account, because if you do not then when the recurring items come up there will be errors as it will not be able to connect to the new Stripe account to ‘see’ the existing Subscriptions/recurring payments, and give you/your customers errors, forcing them to re-enter credit card information and the like.
If you do not have any recurring payments on your site like Subscriptions, then you can ignore that as there is nothing that is continuing, thus the ‘new’ account should work fine.
Be sure to add everything – including the Webhook Secret, and set the Webhooks according to the documentation on the new Stripe account. That should get it going.
Since WooCommerce does officially support Stripe as well, and as you are getting assistance there, feel free to mention this thread or this issue and we should be able to assist directly via the ticket system.
Cheers!
We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
