    Hi all,

I have been running my site for a few months now and like all of us I have tried a lot of different plugins. Some have been kept and others deleted.

My question here is – How can I clean out the database to improve its performance?

To add more context, lots of plugins add ‘fields?’ to the database. maybe not the correct term but..

For example, I have tried VitePOS on my site. This plugin adds loads to the database, but I have since deleted the plugin yet all the database fields remain. I have tried YOAST and again lots added to the database, but after deleting the plugin the data remains.

All this unnecessary data is likely adding to slow load times and queries of the database.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi there,

To clean up your database and improve performance, I recommend using plugins like WP-Optimize or Advanced Database Cleaner. These plugins can help you remove unnecessary data and optimize your database for better performance.

Before proceeding with any database cleanup, please take a full backup of your site to ensure you can restore it if anything goes wrong.

Additionally, you can perform some basic cleanup directly from your WooCommerce settings:

    1. Head over to WooCommerce → Status → Tools.
    2. From there, you can perform the following actions:
      • WooCommerce transients – Clear
      • Expired transients – Clear
      • Clear template cache – Clear
      • Capabilities – Reset Capabilities
      • Clear customer sessions – Clear

These actions will help clean up temporary data and improve performance.

Let me know if you need further assistance or have any questions!

After posting my message I did find in a different thread, mention of WP-Optimize. I did think that having Speedycache Pro that I wouldn’t need another cache plugin.

I did read all the details and decided to give it a try. WOW.!!!

WP-Optimize is awesome. The dashboard is running so much faster now. I have been able to use WP-Optimize to delete all the garbage from the database.

Definite thumbs up for this plugin. Thank you for replying. Much appreciated.

    Hi @nwdogs,

That’s great to hear! I’m glad the previous suggestion helped and you were able to optimize your database successfully.

If you have a moment, we’d really appreciate it if you could leave an honest review for the plugin. Your feedback is valuable and helps us continue improving:
