Hi,

I am planning to use UpDraftPlus to clone site A to site B. Both sites are hosted on the same server. Site A is for production and site B is for test purpose.

I check the document at https://updraftplus.com/faqs/how-do-i-migrate-to-a-new-site-location/#press-restore and have two questions:

1. If I copy the backuped files from site A to site B manually, then what is the usage of the migrator addon. It seems I do not need it to perform the migration at all.

2. Is it possible to clone everthing, except for the user/password information? I mean to keep the login information in site B, instead of using those in site A.

Hi,

I hope you are well.

1. Migrator add-on will automatically change all the old URL with the new URL.

2. I’m afraid it is not possible, UpdraftPlus will overwrite everything when migrating a website to a new location.

Hi,

It seems there is a “Search and replace site location in the database” option in the restore process. Is the option available only when I install Migrator Add-on?

Yes, that is only available with the Migrator add-on or with the Premium version.
