Your page doesn’t load fully for me – there are JavaScript errors coming from your theme that is preventing the page from showing up (only the navigation on the left side is shown). Can you please fix it and let me know? I will look into your question once the page loads.
Sorry, I just realized the theme doesn’t work with direct links.
Go to http://www.steffi-woessner.de and then choose Reisen (or travel if your browser redirects you to the English version). That’s where the albums are.
I am seeing the close icon and I am also able to click on it to close the album.
Do you have the WordPress toolbar at the top of your site when you log in? That might be causing the icon to be hidden behind the toolbar. Since a visitor to your site will not see the WP toolbar, they will not face this issue. If you want to test this functionality, you can open your site in Chrome’s Incognito mode – you will be able to see the close icon.
If you want to disable the WP toolbar for yourself, you can do so from WP’s standard setting, Users → Profile → Toolbar
