I started experiencing the same issue when I updated my wordpress to the latest version. I can see on the plugin page that the supported version is up to 4.9.9
I assume they need to update this plugin to be fully compatible with the latest wordpress versions.
What if I add the code manually to the site and not use the plugin? Will the close button appear? Do you know any workaround for this?
I downgraded my installation to 4.9.9 but still not working, I will fill a bug report to facebook and let us hope this will solve the issue.
I do not think adding the code manually will solve the problem, you can try and let us know though.
We can’t try it also as we need to keep the facebook chat 24/7. I’m afraid that more problems will occur when I try to add it manually. Please notify us for updates on the issue.
So I filled a bug report to Facebook, turns out they removed this close button as part of their new design… So unless they make up their mind, this is what we will have with this plugin.
Click the ‘messenger’ icon to minimize the chat.
