There must be some JS errors that block all javascripts on the screen.
I just install the latest version, and I have the same problem. Any idea what was the problem for burfiboy? There is not JavaScript error on my site. It’s working without animation.

@getconversion: for whatever reason, it’s not loading your jQuery.selectbox.js file, so I didn’t have the function you use with jQuery UI. I added the effects core of jQuery UI to my installation, and now the close button is working.
On another note, there is another bug: the plugin doesn’t keep the closed state even if the value of state cookie time isn’t zero.
