Cloudflare on Medium

    Hi,

    i have consistently been facing issues when trying to add a card for Medium posts. Instead of the post preview, i get the default image with “Attention Required! | Cloudflare”.

    This is extremely annoying, and makes the plugin practically not usable for me. I regularly do newsletter-like posts with collections of links, many of which are hosted on Medium. Is there anything that can be done about this?

    Two more related issues:

    1. LinkedIn posts do not seem to work either. I saw a related request but not an answer
    2. Cloudflare issues have been mentioned before, but again, no answer. In addition, searching the forum does not seem to work either: when searching for Cloudflare i don’t get any results, although a post does exist

    The reason for the Cloudflare issues is that you are hitting their automated validation page. This can happen if you try to add too many links at once or if you’re on a shared host where multiple people are hitting their service from the same IP address. There is unfortunately no simple solution, otherwise we would have adressed it.

    What is the issue with LinkedIn cards you are experiencing? Please post an example URL that isn’t working.

    Hi,

    thanks for your reply. Appreciate your insights, however i am not sure that is the case here.

    I’ve been consistently getting this error since is started using the plugin, even when i just link to 1 medium post – it’s just that this time my post had 4 or 5 medium links, so it looked too bad to ignore. And my IP is not shared.

    Anyway, since i had to find a workaround, i ended up using https://embed.ly/ I am mentioning this in case it helps anyone else, or in case you could use their API under the hood. I’d rather use your plugin as it requires less manual work, but the Medium thing is a deal breaker for me.

    LinkedIn: i had the same issue mentioned before – links not processing. The one that was problematic for me was https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/knowledge-graphs-connecting-dots-increasingly-complex-blumauer/
