CoD Commission
-
Hey Guys,
As I am currently building a Website, where alot of the payments will be paid by cash on delivery I wanted to know if there is a way to charge a commission for CoD-paid buys.
As far as I have seen by now, if something gets paid by CoD the Vendor gets not charged with the commission.
Is there anything (plugin, setting or is it in the pro version) to get Commission on CoD buys?Greets Vince

Hello @vincebuck ,
Thanks for reaching out.
Getting commission while having COD available on the site is a tricky situation.
As an admin, you need to have the first access to the ordered value so that you can ensure commission collection. However, in COD vendors will most likely get the money from the customer (if the vendor is shipping the product).
In such marketplaces, we have seen that the vendors rather pay a subscription fee. That makes it easier for the admin to earn from the site. A vendor subscription is a premium feature, you can read more about it here.
Thank you π
Thanks Rashed for the quick reply,
but wouldn’t it be possible to deduct the commission from the withdrawal balance for each COD purchase? Would that be possible to program and what would be the skill requirements?Greets Vince
Hello @vincebuck ,
If the customer selects COD to pay for the order, Dokan will still calculate vendor earnings & admin’s commission. It will show the earning in the withdrawal balance which vendors can request to withdrawal even though the money is not in your hand (considering the payment is collected via a vendor).
The balance available will be already after deducting the admin commission.
I hope this clears the confusion.
Thank you π
Hey Rashed,
I don’t think I got that right, I tried a bit myself and I turned out the function that Payments get on top of the withdrawal (because the vendor already got the money from the customer). When a customer selects COD Payment, the withdrawal balance doesnt change at all and what I am asking for is the balance to shrink in the height of the commission.
I am sorry if I didnt unterstand your text right.

Hi @vincebuck,
The vendor earnings and admin commission calculation will work in COD as same as other payment gateways. So, if a customer uses COD for an order, the vendor balance will show just the vendor earnings.
But there has an option in Dokan settings that if you enable the “Exclude COD Payments” option, the COD payment will not add to the vendor balance.
So, if you don’t see any changes in the vendor’s current balance, then make sure if you’ve enabled that option from the
Dokan > Settings > Withdraw Optionspanel. Also, make sure that you haven’t added vendor-level commission. Cause the vendor level commission overrides the Global Commission. In that case, if you set 20% to the Global Commission but 0% to the vendor level commission, then the vendor will get the full amount of the order.
I hope you get it.
Thank you,
Hey Tanjir,
Yes I totally got that point. But I am asking for something else. I activated the setting “Exclude COD Payments”, because the vendor would get the money twice (once from the customer and once in the withdrawal balance). So rightnow if somebody buys with COD, the withdrawal balance of the vendor doesnt change, but I want the balance to change negatively by the commission.
Hence I dont owe Dokan Pro (for now) I havent got the function to add vendor-level commission, so everything is caused by the global commission.
For further understanding:
The vendor balance is 100$, commission rate is 10% and an order of 100$ will be placed and paid by COD.
The 100$ of the order shouldnt be added to the vendor withdrawal balance(“Exclude COD Payments”, because the vendor already got the money in cash from customer), but the 10$ commission (10% rate) should be deducted in the vendor withdrawal balance.
So after that Order the vendor balance in total should shrink from 100$ to now 90$.I see here is a lot of confusion and I am sorry for that.
Greets Vince.
Hi @vincebuck,
If an order has been made by COD or any other non-adaptive payment gateway, then you can see the “Vendor Earnings” on the Vendor Dashboard’s Big Counter widget, on the Order Listing page, and Withdraw panel, which may be confusing you.
However, the feature you’re looking for shows the negative balance on the vendor dashboard for admin commission if any orders have been made by COD, which is unavailable in Dokan at this moment.
So, if you would like to get this feature, then it will require additional customization.
I hope you get it.
Best Regards,
