The plugin is perfect for half of what I need it for. It allows me to alert a list of subscribers (through my site) about every new post. Is there a way to extend this so that the email is auto-sent to alert subscribers to new posts and new comments?

There are already plugins that offer the ability to subscribe to comments. They can be used in conjunction with Subscribe2.

Wow, that was a fast response, lol..

Oh ok, thanks, I’ll try one of those. But I like the Subscribe2 menus and usage… there’s no way to do it with Subscribe2?

Subscribe2 would need extensive additions to add this functionality, it’s not a simple edit. That is why I would recommend using an existing solution.
