I’m having a problem with comment email notifications. I’ve checked the “Email me whenever someone posts a comment” setting, but I don’t receive these emails.

After Googling I found other people with the same problem, but it invariably turned out to be a more general email problem.

I’ve installed the WP Mail SMTP plugin, and when I use it to send a test email, I receive it. I’ve also tried changing the email address under the admin profile and also under Settings -> General. I do get notifications when users register, and I got notifications when comments were held for moderation until I turned moderation off.

    Anyone have ideas?

Whoops. The problem was that I post under a non-admin author account, which had a different email address associated with it. I didn’t figure it out until I noticed the function name wp_notify_postauthor().

It is a little misleading because the option says “Email me whenever […] Anyone posts a comment” (emphasis mine), and this option is only available when logged in as admin, yet it really emails the post author.

I am having this problem…and I’m almost positive I’m posting as admin….any suggests as to why I wouldn’t get the emails?
