comment – password protect

I have searched hi and lo for the answer in the forums. ( I am definitely a newbie)

Is it possible to have persons that sign up, get a password via email automatically, similar as it is in this forum., before they post.

As well,… anyone who chooses to leave a comment must be a registered user, thus they would be required to have a password.
