Hi there, thanks for reporting this – this looks very similar to what this user reported here:
https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/comment-area-size-height/#post-9265854
It only appears to be affecting some browsers and is fine on Safari (could be more but that’s only what I’ve been able to confirm so far)
I’ve opened up an internal report on this issue for our developers to investigate. Please bear with us while they look into this. I’ll write back when there’s more info
(edit for clarity)
Thank you for your follow-up and investigation. Yes, it’s certainly similar to the behavior being reported by hongjiho in the thread you linked. I notice his comments form runs off the screen when I type in it.
I’m also seeing that it affects only some browsers. In a quick test, it’s fine for me in Safari (10), IE 11, Edge 38.14, Firefox 54/Windows, and Chrome 59/Windows. The iframe doesn’t expand correctly in Firefox 54/Mac or Chrome 59/Mac.
Thanks again.

Thanks for that. I’m adding it to our notes.
A colleague found the following workaround for Chrome users:
…if you go to the end of your comment and hit “tab”, you should jump to the next boxes and see the “post comment” button again.
This is still occurring for me on Chrome 61/Windows 10. Has there been any updates with this?
Hey all – We have a fix ready for our next release. Please keep an eye out for the next Jetpack update.
Cheers,
Lam
Thanks for your reply and followup! The 5.4 update does seem to have fixed the iframe resizing problem on every web site I run, so thanks again.
Incidentally, I later realized the problem was the old iframe caching issue. Once the iframe got “stuck” at a fixed size, if I cleared my web browser’s file cache (regardless of browser) it would work properly again for a little while. The Mozilla link also suggests a couple of workarounds for anyone who can’t update to the new Jetpack.
