Comments not functioning properly

    I am running a blog with a few different subject pages. This is one that is causing some serious hassles.

    http://www.people-in-need.com/category/social-issues/

    If the top post on the page is expanded, there is no option to leave a comment.
    If the second post is expanded, there is an option to reply.
    In the admin section, the page properties are set to “allow” comments.

    this is doing my head in. Is there anybody who has any idea what could be casuing this, and how to get it to behave in such a way that comments are always allowed?

    You may specifically allow or disallow comments inside every single different blog post. Maybe the option is un-ticked inside the first blog post, and ticked (as by default) in the other ones ?

    Edit : I think I was unclear.
    – Open a post of yours.
    – Click to edit it (as editor or admin, whatever)
    – In the editing window, click Screen Options, in the upper-right
    – That reveals a list of tickable elements. Inside this, tick the box called “Discussion” : this won’t allow or disallow commenting, this shows the options regarding commenting
    – you’ll see a new “box” appeared below your post, and in that one you may allow or disallow commenting
