Are you using a custom template to display events or one that came with the theme?
Are comments enabled on other parts of the site?

Unless I am mistaken, Headway Themes would be a custom template. Would I be right?
Yes, comments are working elsewhere on the site.
I meant if you had created a specific template for events yourself, but it sounds like you haven’t.

would it be possible to create a new event and then make sure you enable comments on the settings at Events > Settings > Pages > Event Pages > Enable Comments =Yes and then enable comments during the event creation and then share the link to that event here for us to see and analyze?

The link above doesn’t seem to be working any longer, but have you tried testing with the default WordPress theme?

Yup, looks like a theme problem… comments worked with TwentyFifteen.
Take this to Headway support and ask them about comments on custom post types?
