This seemed to work for a while but now some comments seem to go to top but others end up further down page. If I scroll to page end the link on page says ‘Newer Comments’. When I click on that it takes me to the top of the page and there are miraculously the new comments.
I have gone into settings and selected the show new comments first option.
I have seen some slightly similar queries in forums but very old posts and refer to adding new lines into comment.php but the references in these old replies do not match my content.

I want new comments to show first.
