Comments will not show

    I’m using the free version of Astra and Otterblocks. No matter what I do, I can’t get the comments block to show. Updated the site, set the theme to Twenty Twenty-One, disabled every plugin except Bluehost, and cleared the caches, nothing.

    The customize tab says: “Comments Pagination block: paging comments is disabled in the Discussion Settings.”

    But it’s enabled in discussion settings, and it’s enabled for the specific post. I’m not sure what else to try.

    Did you check in your Admin Dashboard under Bluehost→Settings→Comments? There is an additional setting there that might be overriding the WordPress discussion settings.

    I wasn’t aware of that setting, thanks. But I just checked it, and it was off. Turned it on and off again just to see, no difference either way.

    Figured it out… apparently they won’t show unless you select the “break up comments” section in Discussion, even if everything is enabled.
