Compatibility with polylang?
-
Hi,
Is “Custom Product Tabs for WooCommerce” compatible with polylang? My site is in two languages, and unfortunately when I edit a tab title and tab content in the french version it automatically displays in the english version.
Is there a way to natively define specific content for eache language?
If not is there a hack that i can use to only show the proper content for each language?Thank you.

Hi Tania,
I know that the plugin is translatable through WPML and I believe we’ve had users translate it with the Polylang plugin but unfortunately I don’t know the specifics.
If it helps, the custom tabs are saved as post meta. Almost all of the other fields for WooCommerce are also saved as post meta. Therefore the tabs should be translatable in the same way you would translate the specifications or variations.
Can you send me a URL to your site so I can check it out?
Thank you,
Kevin.Hi,
I am having the same error with my site. I have two languages for my site, English and Chinese. When I updated the custom tab title for Chinese version, My english version is also changed?
I am using polylang free version with Hyyan Woocommerce Polylang integration.
All my settings in WooPoly Advanced Options under Meta list are already checked.
Do we need to add a function?
Please advise.
Thank you
Hi @zaizai08,
Unfortunately I don’t know because I am not familiar with Polylang. Give me a few days and I will download the plugin and test it out.
@thatshere and @zaizai08 If there’s anything I should know about how you are specifically using the plugin (i.e. any specific settings) please let me know.
Hi Kevin,
I have the same problem that @thatshere and @zaizai08, I am a bit desperate, I have tried to read everything about custom tabs and polylang and it is crazy, I couldn’t find anything, this forum is the most closely I have found. I really like this pluging but if I can’t used in different languages is not worth it. Please, if you have any update about it please let us know.
Thanks a lot.
Hi @paolo-flamenkini, @zaizai08, and @thatshere,
I’m sorry for my delay on this.
I just downloaded polylang, tested it out, and was easily able to create a custom tab in a different language. I will explain my steps and will need you to explain yours because from my perspective there was nothing incompatible.
After downloading polylang, I added two languages (English and French). Then I created a new English product, filled out the title, description, and added a single tab. I saved that product and created a new one in French (using Polylang’s metabox, here: https://imgur.com/a/Sqrwa8n).
I changed the title, description, and then went to change my tabs. The English tab that I had created for the first product was still present. I changed the title and content of this tab, saved my product, and now I have two products in two different languages with two different tabs connected using Polylang’s framework.
What am I doing differently than you? Is it a case of using saved tabs as opposed to custom tabs?
Let me know.
Thank you,
Kevin.Really?!
Are you sure? What is happen to me is when I modify a custom tab in a language (For example En) this modification is kept in the rest of the language (Es,Fr) so I never can have different tabs for each language, I only can get same custom tabs for the 3 languages (En, Fr, Es).
I don’t is happening because I am doing the same than you, I am not using custom tabs.
You can read in the same message from Tania, that we have the same problem. I don’t think the theme could be the problem. Maybe could be the custom tab version?
This forum star with this message, is very well explained.

Thanks so much
The product tab will by default be in the first language you entered. However, I was able to go to the 2nd product/2nd language and change the tab’s title and content. Are you able to go to the 2nd/3rd language product (Es,Fr), and change the tab’s title and content? If you change it, does it affect all three languages?
Let me know.
Thank you,
Kevin.Hi Kevin,
I have found the solution for this topic! 🙂
The problem comes from Polylang, this is happening when a Synchronization option is activated. I found out this solution because it happened to me the same with the plugin Page Builder, and I read that page builder use custom fields to store their data.
So you only have to go to the polylang setting pluging, in left bar menu.
Languages>settings>Synchronization>settings>custom fields
Is a check box, so you must to keep disabled this option. Refresh and start using custom tabs. It is happen to me that for some products I had to create them again to work with.
Kevin thanks so much for you time and your interest.
Regards to everyone!

Woohoo! That’s great!! 🙂
Thank you very much for investigating the settings and coming back to us with your solution.
I will refer users to your post if they are having issues with Polylang.
If you have any more Polylang issues or if you find anything that might be helpful for future users, please post again.
Best of luck with your website,
Kevin.Hi
Kevins solution didn´t work for me. Tab title and title of linked page are all in the same language. And not even the default language. Content in page is translated correct.
I dont know what to do…
Best regards
Magnus
