that’s a valid question which also interests me. There’s indeed no official confirmation about the compatibility of the classic editor with WP 5.9.
Maybe you already know, that there’s a plugin test over there -> https://plugintests.com/plugins/wporg/classic-editor/latest
and it seems to indicate that there is no problem, although i can’t assess how broad and realistic this sort of test is regarding use in real life…

I’ve sadly discovered that it isn’t compatible with WordPress 5.9 or the update to 5.9.1.
So now I have a situation where even though the plugin is set correctly all my posts and pages are visible if I use block.
Thanks @sguk . Would deactivating this plugin before trying Disable Gutenberg affect previous posts ect?
No, deactivating only affects the appearance of the editor, not the content.
When you activate the other plugin it’ll reinstate the classic editor look.
