Compatible with ecommerce?

    Hi, I’m setting up my product catalogue for our small kitchen shop. Loving the plugin so far! I don’t want to sell most of my products online, the idea is to allow customers to browse our inventory and learn about items we may not be able to merchandise nicely in the store.

    My concern is, there are certain items that I would like to sell online (like gift certificates!) but I’m nervous about setting up an ecommerce plugin next to the catalogue. Will there be conflicts that would crash the site(especially since the custom post types would be so similar?) I would have to set up a separate page for the “for sale” items somehow, I need it to be user friendly though and not too complicated. Is there one plugin that would work best?

    Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated! It’s a lot of work to set all this up on my own, so I want to make sure I’m going about it the right way.

    I have honestly not done a huge amount of testing with other eCommerce plugins, however this WP Catalogue plugin is just using Custom Post types, so I think it unlikely there would be any major conflicts.

    If you’re just wanting to sell digital goods via the eCommerce (like gift certificates) then I would recommend Easy Digital Downloads plugin. You could set this up in a separate area to the Catalogue, or if you wanted, you could just add the individual ‘buy’ buttons for relevant products in the WP Catalogue itself. This may prove a more seemless integration of the two – as a user it would appear that there is a catalogue of all products, and when one is available to buy online there is the addition of a buy button. Clicking button adds item to cart.

    If you want to sell tangible goods not just digital products then my personal favourite of the larger scale eCommerce plugins is Shopp plugin.
