These are two security plugins. Mainly for fail2ban but they work without it.
This one is a wp-config.php snippet (or mu-plugin) preventing malicous logins + prevent author sniffing

I know a shared hosting installation don’t offer fail2ban but exit(); can be executed of malicious actions.
