Complete Import For Local Installation

Hello hello. I am doing some work on a new client site and have a few questions regarding importing his complete WordPress installation to my local testing environment. Fair warning, I’m a rookie so be gentle.

I have a local installation of WordPress on my workstation that I call my SandBox so I can test things without breaking the live site. I’m taking over for a designer that has basically left my client “high and dry.” He’s a friend of my clients and was doing the work for free and it has been neglected for a while now…so that’s where I fit in. I don’t have the theme file and also the Shopp e-commerce plugin that is being used on the site so a basic Import will not work for me. I also don’t have access to the host to mess with the database,etc.

Wondering if using a backup and restore plugin will work for me? I am running the WordPress to Dropbox plugin now but am wondering what to do with that file locally? Any help would be appreciated!
