Hi, every order placed is sending two confirmation emails to the customer.

I have literally disabled every plugin except woocommerce and the issue still persists.

I am stuck and unsure how to proceed.

  • Hi @vividground,

Thank you for reaching out to us. I understand how confusing it must be to receive duplicate confirmation emails for a single order. Let’s work together to resolve this issue. It’s great that you’ve already performed the initial step of disabling all plugins except WooCommerce to check if the issue persists. Since the problem is still occurring, we can rule out a plugin conflict.

To proceed further, I have a few questions that will help us narrow down the cause:

    1. Have you recently updated WooCommerce or any other plugins before noticing this issue?
    2. Can you confirm if this happens with all orders or only under specific conditions?
    3. Could you check your email log to see if there are two separate entries for each order confirmation email being sent?

In the meantime, please visit WooCommerce > Settings > Emails in your WordPress dashboard. Here, you can review the email settings for ‘Completed Order’ and ensure that the email recipient is set correctly.

    Looking forward to your response!

    Hi @vividground,

It seems to be happening with all product using the woocommerce block from gutenburg editor.

Can you confirm orders without such products are functioning correctly? As in, only sending one confirmation email. Could you place a test order to learn more, please?

Yes, it shows two seprate emails being sent.

Are both emails the exactly same email or are there any difference in them?

In the meantime, I’d like to understand your site properly. Please share with us the necessary information below for us to investigate the issue further:

    • System Status Report which you can find via WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support.
    • Fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

You could copy and paste your reply here or paste it via https://gist.github.com/ and send the link here.

Once we have more information, we’ll be able to assist you further.

    Thanks!

    1. Yes, after placing test orders is how I found that out.

    Hey, @vividground!

    Thank you for the report.

Just to confirm, you ran a test order after disabling all plugins but Woo and the issue persisted, correct? Have you tried also switching the theme to Storefront and have only Woo active to see if it persists?

Also, which payment method are you using on those orders? Is this happening with any payment method?

Can you please share a screenshot of the order notes on one of those? Please remove any sensitive information before sharing it here. I recommend using https://snipboard.io. You can share the direct link to the image as a response to this topic.

Here’s an example of what we need:

    1. Yes, Correct. Yes, issue persists.
    2. It is happening with any payment method. I have tested both using a card & using a 100% off coupon code.

    Hi @vividground,

Thank you for the additional details. From your System Status Report I see that you’re running an outdated version of WooCommerce. Can you please update to the latest version and see if that fixes the issue?

If you could also try upgrading PHP to 8 or above that’d be great. Please remember to take a backup before making such changes!

Please let us know how it goes and if that fixes it!

If the issue persists, please send us screenshots of your email templates screen by going to WooCommerce → Settings → Emails.

    Thanks!

    Hi there @vividground,

Thanks again for sharing more details on this.

I understand you’ve taken different troubleshooting steps, but the issue still persists. Could you please try reinstalling WooCommerce and have your theme switched to Storefront and test to see if the issue persists?

    Hi @vividground,

To learn more, I’ll repeat a question from my first reply in this thread that hasn’t been addressed yet:

Are both emails the exactly same email or are there any difference in them?

Could you share screenshots of both emails, please?

    Thanks!

Hey, @vividground! Thank you for the screenshots!

I was reviewing the thread to try and see if there’s something we are missing here and saw you mentioned this:

It seems to be happening with all product using the woocommerce block from gutenburg editor.

Do you mean that the issue only happens if you are using the checkout block? If you use the checkout shortcode you only get one email?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Hi @vividground,

My colleague raised a valid point, looking at my questions from a few weeks back:

It seems to be happening with all product using the woocommerce block from gutenburg editor.

Can you confirm orders without such products are functioning correctly? As in, only sending one confirmation email. Could you place a test order to learn more, please?

    To which you replied:

    Yes, Correct. Yes, issue persists.

So the first Yes, means the orders without products using the Guttenberg editor are working properly. Correct? Meaning only orders with products created with the Guttenberg editor are malfunctioning if we’re understanding correctly?

Can you share more details as to how you enabled the Gutenberg editor for your products? As this is not a default feature for WooCommerce, there are custom code snippets out there to enable them, but they may cause compatibility conflicts such as display issues or functionality issues.

Please keep in mind since this isn’t a default experience for WooCommerce it counts as customization, and thus it is outside of our support scope. If you’d prefer to continue using this approach you’d need to find a developer to help you troubleshoot and fix the issue.

    Thanks!

After several levels of testing the cause was having “both” cart and checkout block on the same page. When I remove the cart block everything works fine.

Nothing custom involved normal stock blocks provided by woocomerce.
