complex HTML layouts for email

Hi there, I’m having an issue with complex HTML layouts in the emails generated. It was adding code into my layout, I believe <p> tags, which I removed by using the code in this post:

However the issue now is that when using mail(2), it puts the contents of mail(1) in mail(2). Is it a simple fix to make the “remove <p>” code work for both emails?
