    Hello Sir,

I made this feature request many years ago, but the response from WPDelicious was clear that you had not matured enough at that time for the request.

It was the period when you released the Frontend Submission Feature, and was just releasing your Pro version 1.0.

Today, you have matured — You have:

    — User Dashboard and Frontend Recipe Submission.

    — Customizable Email Templates.

    — Surprise Me Feature.

    — Analytics Dashboard.

    — Promote Equipment You Use.

    — Floating Recipe Bar.

    — Advanced Rating System.

    — Delisho Plugin.

and a host of other nice features.

Now, I want to believe that you have more than matured enough, to be able to handle this age old request:

    THE REQUEST
MODULAR ARCHIVE CARD AND MODULAR SINGLE RECIPE PAGE THROUGH SHORTCODES, BLOCKS OR ELEMENTOR WIDGETS

If you look at WP Recipe Maker ( https://help.bootstrapped.ventures/docs/wp-recipe-maker/recipe-shortcodes ) — You will notice that it is a Modular System.

You can break the Single Recipe Page apart, and bit by bit, build it as you like through Shortcodes.

Each Element is a component that you can place anywhere on your Page, and in any place you like.

This gives you a kind of Flexibility and Control, in which case if 1,000 (One Thousand) people use WP Recipe Maker to create their Recipe websites, all the websites will never look alike.

The same thing applies to the Cooked Recipe plugin ( https://github.com/XjSv/Cooked/wiki/Template-Shortcodes ) — You will also notice that it is also a Modular System, where You can break the Single Recipe Page apart, and bit by bit, build it as you like through Shortcodes.

But with WP Delicious, we only have one Template design, and if 1,000 (One Thousand) people use WP Delicious to create their Recipe websites, all the websites will always look alike.

For me, this is inflexible, no customizability, unprofessional, and copycat approach to Web development.

It is for this limitation, that I am proposing that You need to give us a Modular Single Recipe Page Customization flexibility, by making it possible for us to use components to build out our Single Recipe Page Layout.

This will be done through Shortcodes, Blocks OR Elementor widgets, in which case everything will be a widget from Title, Featured Image, Difficulty Level, Ingredients, Nutritional Information, Instructions, Pins, and everything else displayed on a Recipe Single Page.

Others have done this thing for years, and given us such flexibility and Control.

I wonder why you choose to remain stubborn and continue to want to force us to all use just one Single Template design for our Recipe Single Page.

You have now matured: Please add this feature request as the next thing you need to implement for us.

    Special Regards.

    Hi @pressonforlife,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. This is something we plan on doing. We are yet to decide whether we will implement the shortcodes approach or offer a visual builder for recipe card.

Currently, we are gathering feedback and feature requests from our customers. Our team is working on preparing the roadmap for 2026.

We will start working on this feature in Q1 of 2026.

Thank You for your reply, and it’s good to know that you are considering this request.

Now, you said ” We are yet to decide whether we will implement the shortcodes approach or offer a visual builder for recipe card “.

I am not just talking about the “Recipe Card” : I am also talking about the Single Recipe Page as well.

Truth be told, your Recipe Archive Cards with Delisho look nice already.

You see, I am using Astra Theme, and the way Astra displayed the Single Page of WPDelicious was not nice at all, because Astra’s Single Post Layout is not nice at all.

While using WP Recipe Maker, I could create my Single Recipe Page to look the way I want, because every component of it has Shortcodes: so I was able to use Elementor to create my Single Recipe Page to look the way I want.

WP Recipe Maker does not offer Nutrition Facts in its free version, but I still uninstalled WP Delicious and went for WP Recipe Maker because I could customize it, and get my Single Recipe Page to look the way I want.

The lack of Nutrition Facts in the free version of WP Recipe Maker is a compromise we were willing to make, for the sake of Customization, Flexibility and Control.

Whereas, WP Delicious comes with Nutrition Facts in its free version, we still uninstalled WP Delicious and went for WP Recipe Maker because of Customization, Flexibility and Control over the way our Single Recipe Page would look.

So whether you decide for shortcodes approach or offer a Visual builder approach, the bottom line is that it’s about time we have control and flexibility concerning our single Recipe Page: this is long overdue.

    Regards.

    Hi @pressonforlife,

You will be able to create your own layout for recipe card. As for single recipe post, you can easily build using Elementor or any similar page builder that allows you to modify the structure to override the default single recipe post template.

This your last reply appears as if your are losing context of the discussion, OR don’t understand how Elementor’s Single Post Template system works ?

While in the Elementor Single Post Template mode, there is nothing there of WP Delicious in widgets, that can be used to build up the Single Recipe Page.

If it was WP Recipe Maker ( WP Recipe Maker – WordPress plugin | ww.wp.xz.cn ), I would have things like:

    Recipe Image.

    Recipe Title.

    Recipe Content.

    Instructions.

    Recipe Video.

    Ingredients

Recipe Snippets which adds the “Jump to Recipe. Print Recipe and Pin Recipe” features.

    Nutritional Facts/ Label

    Recipe Notes.

Recipe Summary with hashtags and so on, all in Shortcodes.

Then in Elementor, I would add Containers, give them column structure, then add whatever WP Recipe Maker shortcodes in any container I like.

After this, I add “Display Conditions” to the Template, set it to “Recipes“, then “Save & Close“.

From then on, every Recipe that I create and view, will be displayed with the Single Recipe Post Template that I created in Elementor through WP Recipe Maker shortcodes.

In this way with WP Recipe Maker, I am able to build up my Single Recipe Page the way I want it to look.

Although WP Recipe Maker even has beautiful Single Page Recipe Templates, and they are more than One (1), which I counted to be Twelve (12 ) with 3 additional enhancements, as you can see here — Recipe Templates – WP Recipe Maker Demo

This means that, even if I don’t use Elementor to create my own Custom Single Recipe Page, the WP Recipe Maker plugin already gives me Seven (7) Templates I can use in the free version, and additional Five (5) Pro Templates in the Pro version, with 3 additional enhancements ( Snippet Basic, Snippet Basic Buttons, and Snippet Summary ).

But with WP Delicious, nothing like that ! — you simply have a Template that all of us will follow, and this Template doesn’t have shortcodes, Blocks OR Elementor widgets to break each part of it apart.

So we are all trapped in using just the one Template design you have provided for us all.

What I am now asking for, is that you should take the approach of WP Recipe Maker ( https://help.bootstrapped.ventures/docs/wp-recipe-maker/recipe-shortcodes )

    OR

The way of Cooked Recipe pluginhttps://github.com/XjSv/Cooked/wiki/Template-Shortcodes )

    — who have provided us flexibility and control in being able to create our Single Recipe Page the way we want.

Now, whether you do it by Shortcodes like WP Recipe Maker and as Cooked Recipe plugin have done, or whether you use a Page Builder approach to achieve it, it doesn’t matter.

What is important, is that you make it possible and save us the nightmare of a Thousand websites built with WP Delicious looking the same, because there is only one Single Page Template, and no further ways of Component based Customization to enable flexibility and control !

    Regards.

    Hi @pressonforlife,

Once the shortcodes are available, you will be able to create your own structure using page builder. I didn’t mean that you can do it right away.

Alternatively, if know coding, you can also override the single page template to use your own structure.

Like mentioned earlier, it is on our roadmap and we are going to do it in near future.

This part where you said “if you know coding

Well, I don’t really know coding like that: I just learned parts of coding in bits here and there — I learned some HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Python, Dart, Svelte and SvelteKit, all in bits and pieces.

That helped me to understand what coding is about, but I didn’t develop to the point where I can build Commercial grade Applications with it.

My inability to develop Commercial Grade Production Ready Applications, helps me to appreciate people like You (WP Delicious) who are able to use that same knowledge to build something useful that the world can use!

Nonetheless, the coming of AI has helped a lot, and I am able to use AI to create some small simple things here and there: I used AI to create a simple Email OTP application that enables people to Register and Login to a WordPress website every time, and they no longer need to remember Passwords.

I have attempted to use AI to create a Contest website where people pay for Votes through Woo Commerce ( https://contestants.cordialtec.com.ng ).

It is still an ongoing Project, and what I have learned through those journeys is that AI is not that perfect and can still waste your time, because for example, I spent One month on the Contest website because you can tell AI to make a small correction and it can destroy everything you’ve built altogether.

That lesson taught me to always save an iteration before I embark on new modifications and enhancements.

2.) I could attempt to use AI to override your Template to get it to look the way I want, which is partly this way (https://demo.wprecipemaker.com/meadow-recipe-template/#recipe-41-notes), but using your interface features.

The thing there is that, through my attempt to build, I learned that Themes and Plugins don’t always have One (1) Master file where all the codes are stationed: there could be many functions that sit in other files that need to be called, and different other components that need to be called from elsewhere.

This means that I first need to go through the stress of understanding your file structure, which file is which, which folder is which, which function references which function, which function does what, and all the other whatnots.

That’s going to be a hell of an adventure, and because I’m not ready for that pain, I thought to propose a simpler path for myself:

What if I create a Picture to show you how I want my Template to look like, and you prepare and send me all the codes and overrides, and all steps I will need to follow to make it look like that ?

Is that possible with You ?

Waiting to hear from You soon,

    Regards.

    Hi @pressonforlife,

As informed, this is on our roadmap for next year. We cannot provide you with the code to achieve the layout you prefer as this is beyond our support scope. I recommend hiring a developer.

If you have any other feedback or want to share your thoughts, I recommend reaching out to our support team.
