I’ve set AO to gzip eerything. But what do we add to our htaccess so it uses that instead of the uncompressed? Or what else do we need to set up?

well, that’s what these lines in the first link are supposed to do, rewrite autoptimize_xyz.css to autoptimize_xyz.css.gz;
```
RewriteRule ^(.*)\.css$ $1.css.gz [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)\.js$ $1.js.gz [QSA,L]
```
