Hi, want to know how to find the limit of concurrent examinee in my server after installing this plugin to take the quiz. How many at a time can attend? If there is any way to know by calculating the server stat, it’d be helpful. Last few times whenever I tried, it crossed the limit and made server down. Also after knowing the limit, is there anyway to set the limit from the plugin, so if any user wants to take exam and the limit crossed so they wont attend and need to wait till finished by others?

  • Hi @corvusmile ,

I hope you’re doing well. Thank you for reaching out to us.

Regarding your query about setting limits for concurrent examinees in the QSM (Quiz and Survey Master) plugin:

You can control the number of quiz attempts using the settings provided within the plugin itself. To configure this, please follow the steps below:

    Navigation Path:
    Quiz SettingsQuiz SubmissionQuiz ControlLimit Attempts

If you set the attempt limit to 0 or leave the field blank, it means no limit will be applied, and users can attempt the quiz multiple times.

Here’s a visual reference for better clarity:

    Please note:

    • The plugin does not enforce server-level restrictions for concurrent users.
    • The quiz attempt limit is enforced based on the device/IP. For example, if the attempt limit is set to 2, a user won’t be able to bypass it simply by using a different browser or email ID. The restriction remains tied to the device or system used.

If you’d like to increase or remove the attempt limits, you can always update this setting in the same section mentioned above.

Let me know if anything is unclear or if you need further assistance—I’ll be happy to help!

Thank you for your time and cooperation.

    Best regards,

Hi @dhanush22, thanks for your reply. Actually I wanted to limit the total number of examinee at a time, not the total attempt of any user. What I’m facing is if a good amount of user attends quiz at a time, it made the server down. I know you don’t enforce server-level restrictions for concurrent users. I just want to find a solution. Here what I thought –

Is there any way to know by calculating the server stat – how many user at a time can attend any quiz?
For example – 1 Core CPU, 1 GB RAM, 300 max_connections can allow 100 users at a time (concurrent) to take any quiz in qsm. Something like this.

    Hi @corvusmile ,

I hope you’re doing well, and thank you for your prompt response.

I appreciate you sharing the detailed information regarding the total number of examinees you’d like to accommodate.

To clarify, the plugin itself does not impose a strict limit on the number of concurrent users taking a quiz. However, performance during high traffic largely depends on several external factors — such as your server configuration, the overall size and complexity of the quiz, the active theme, and other plugins installed on your site.

Unfortunately, the plugin doesn’t currently offer a built-in option to limit the number of concurrent quiz attempts.

To provide more tailored guidance, could you please let us know the approximate number of users you expect to take the quiz at the same time? Additionally, if you’re comfortable sharing, details like your current hosting/server specifications can help us better assess and suggest optimization steps.
