• I have paid for the premium Hide My WP however when I try to save and activate I am getting two errors:

Config file is not writable. Create the file if not exists or copy to /wordpress/core/6.1.1/hidemywp.conf file with the following lines:

Config file is not writable. You have to added it manually at the beginning of the /wordpress/core/6.1.1/hidemywp.conf file:

Any knowledge on why this would be? I have an sftp set up but would prefer not edit the core files.

    Hi @petersquirrly ,

Thanks for coming back to me.

It is telling me to edit or create /wordpress/core/6.1.1/hidemywp.conf using Filezilla I have found this location. I do not have the ability to change the file attributes to allow creation or editing of files in this location I have tried multiple times and it just says failure. I am at a loss

    Thanks, for your help again.

If you can’t create the file please send to the host the redirects you get on the HMWP notification when to save the new paths, and put them directly in the Nginx config for your site.

@petersquirrly could you please explain on how to do this? Like step by step because I’ve got the same problem as @mylesmemeh for the last couple days.

I was able to create the .conf file and upload it to the server by using an FTP program but cannot move it into the desired 6.2 folder because it’s read only even if doing perm change commands, still can’t get it to become writeable.

@petersquirrly if you could tell me more about the Nginx config file would be great, like for example the location of it in the server and where to place the suggested code from the hmwp notification messages inside of it. Thanks a bunch!

The default location for the nginx configuration folder is: /etc/nginx/ and you should add the rules before other custom configs.

These instructions are also mentioned on the yellow notification from where you will take the rewrite rules once you saved Safe or Ghost mode.

However, we recommend forwarding this to your hosting as they’ll know what to do.

@petersquirrly thank you for the answers.
